Our workshops were designed to uplift the Chagossian community by preserving traditional crafts and empowering women artisans through essential skills training and entrepreneurial opportunities. Conducted in both the UK and Mauritius, these workshops showcased the cultural richness of the Chagossian community while promoting inclusion and celebrating diversity. Participants actively engaged in sunprint-making and oral history sessions, immersing themselves in Chagossian traditions and memories of home. Our primary objective was to empower Chagossian participants by preserving and interpreting their voices and memories through visual and traditional craft representations, fostering a truly inclusive space that embraced diversity and empowered the community through their cultural expressions.
